McLaren will debut their 720S GT3 machine in the 2019 British GT Championship with customer team Balfe Motorsport.
The tie-up means that the team and the manufacturer will compete for honours in both GT3 and GT4. McLaren factory driver Rob Bell will team up with team owner Shaun Balfe to reunite the pairing who took the 2017 International GT Open Pro-Am title.
Bell has been an integral part of the development process of the 720S GT3 having covered thousands of miles in testing for the company. The model is the first to be designed and built in-house by McLaren Customer Racing and it is hoped that this will lead to the team gaining an early advantage in the championship.
Balfe have been McLaren customers since entering International GT Open with a 650S GT3 in 2016 and have had Bell on their roster for the last couple of years. The pairing campaigned a part season in the championship last year with two eighth placed finishes being their best results.
The team will once again campaign a 570S in the GT4 class with Graham Johnson returning to be teamed up with McLaren junior Michael O’Brien.
