Matthew Wilson plans to build on knowledge gained from his 2022 debut TCR UK season by continuing to race a Cupra Leon Competición with JWB Motorsport for a second year in a row.
The former VW Cup competitor joined the championship for a full time assault last term, bringing the new generation Cupra Leon to the series. A steady campaign with a host of top 10 finishes and 13 points paying races (from 15) paved the way for him to claim 12th in the final standings.
“It’s great to be able to confirm my plans for 2023 and to return to TCR UK,” Wilson stated about his continuing presence in the series. “Especially as the championship has moved up another level over the winter. Last year was a learning year for me and the team with the car, so now that we have that data and experience behind us, we’re looking to improve in our second season together and move forward.
“I showed good pace in the car last year and with the added benefit of having a team-mate this year, we can work together to improve the performance of the car and show what the CUPRA Leon Competición TCR can really do in TCR UK.”
The outfit have already confirmed George Jaxon – who made his series debut at the Snetterton finale last year – in another Cupra for the upcoming season.
