Former BTCC racer Rick Kerry is to make his TCR UK debut during the opening round of the 2023 season at Snetterton in a Cupra Leon.
Kerry, who ran in a diesel BMW 120d during his only BTCC season in 2007, returned to racing in the Britcar Endurance series in 2021 in a Cupra Leon, partnering Mark Hayes in rounds at Silverstone and Donington Park.
The former KUMHO BMW champion competed in a Cupra Leon TCR during his return to competition and will kick off 2023 in the machine that Jamie Tonks took to victory at Oulton Park last season.
“I’ve got plenty of experience of racing in rear-wheel drive machinery, mainly in BMWs for the past 20 years” Kerry stated. “However, when I decided to go back to racing, I looked for what would be the best and most equal racing to make a return in and TCR UK fits the bill.
“The Championship has grown over the last two seasons and has offered both a great racing spectacle and also an affordable way to go Touring car racing. I’ll be testing the CUPRA in the run-up to the start of the season and I’m looking forward to racing in TCR UK this year as I see this offering me the best competitive option to return to racing.”
