CAMP ADDS TCR UK TO 2023 RACE PLANS

By Mick Palmer

It will be a multi-faceted campaign for Alistair Camp as the former Civic Cup champion aims to win back the crown he took in 2021, while also doubling up with a newly announced part programme in TCR UK.

After testing at Snetterton earlier in the year Camp took to the Donington Park track last week to taste a Hyundai i30 N that he will race in the season opener at Snetterton this weekend with Pro Alloys Racing.

“I can say that I am delighted to be able to make my debut in TCR UK this weekend. After driving the CUPRA and the Hyundai, the future for me is definitely TCR,” Camp said. I’ll also be taking part in the Milltek Sport Civic Cup and my aim is to retake the title there whilst taking in as many TCR UK rounds as I can.”

“I can say thank you enough to Neil Greenland and the team at Pro Alloys for giving me the chance to take part this weekend in TCR UK,” Camp added. “Being in the Civic Cup for the last few years, it’s clear that the hard work put into both championships by Stewart and Nicki Lines is paying off. Civic Cup has a large field this year and the depth of talent in TCR UK shows it’s taking another stride forward. Snetterton is going to be an amazing weekend, bring it on!”

Pro Alloys Racing will certainly be embedded in the TCR UK bill this season as they add the TCR project to their roster where they will run eight cars in the supporting Civic Cup and two in the Fiesta Juniors. Team Principal Neil Greenland said: “I’m delighted to be able to announce that we will be competing in TCR UK this year, alongside our commitments in both the Milltek Sport Civic Cup and the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship. Our family-based team has gone through a huge expansion over the winter and our entry with the Pro Alloys Racing Team Hyundai offers us a chance to be part of the fastest-growing touring car championship in the UK.

“With Alistair in the car, we know that we have a driver who brings a huge amount of front-wheel drive experience in tin top racing and race-winning pedigree. We’ll all be learning over the weekend as we get to grips with TCR UK.”
